Cy Update

Dear friends and family

Ryan and I have to write the post on Cy's behalf again tonight. He is still in the ICU unit at C.H.O.C. hospital. All three of us want to thank you, deeply, for your outpouring of love and support via phone calls, emails, and posts on the blog. We feel surrounded by God's peace in the midst of this time, and we owe that to your prayers. Thank you.

Cy is in very good hands. He is being cared for by wonderful doctors and nurses, who are working hard to get him well. In quick summary, Cy's kidneys are not functioning like they should be. Because his kidneys are not filtering his blood well (that's their job), Cy has extra waste in his blood that could be potentially harmful to his overall health. He is being monitored, very closely, to ensure that his body stays stable and his kidneys (hopefully!!!) improve.

We have some specific prayer requests. Please pray that Cy's kidneys would be healed. Many times this condition does reverse itself without medical intervention. We want to take him home. The ICU is a sterile (and expensive!) place for him to reside. We'd love to have him home, in his nursery, with his doggy and family. Of course we want him there as long as NECESSARY, but no longer... With that in mind, we have some specific numbers to ask prayer for. In order to go home, his Potassium count needs to drop below 6. His CO2 level needs to go up. And his BUN and Criatinine counts need to drop in order to demonstrate proper kidney function. These numbers mean nothing to you, but everything to us, so please pray specifically for them.

In the mean time, Cy's spirits are great. It is obvious that God's spirit is over him, giving him peace. He is sweet, calm, and otherwise very healthy. He can't wait to meet all of you, and return to his job of updating the blog.

Until then...

Love and thanks to you all for your love and support,

Mommy & Daddy Alexander

Ryan, Jenn, and Cy

My prayers are with all three of you. I know God has great plans for Cy! This difficult beginning will make him an even stronger man of God later in life. Especially since he has such wonderful parents to lead him.

Dear Cy,
I have every confidence that God will heal you completely and that you and your Mom and Dad will soon return home to begin your life together. While we're waiting for that, I'll be praying for your kidney counts to get healthy and some much needed rest for your Mom and Dad.
Love to all of you, Sue Samuelson
