Thank Heaven For Little Boys

Hey everyone! It's Cy again. Sorry that it's been a few days since my last post. I've been one busy baby- eating, sleeping, sleeping eating... you know the routine.

I requested some updated pictures, so I could show you all what I've been up to. So, my parents went nuts with the camera today. Enjoy!

I'm learning
to focus on faces. Uncle John's is one of my favorites.

My Auntie Erin is here visiting for a few days, from WA. She is so good to me. My parents give her all the the dirty jobs.







Jaxson has come a long way since the night he peed on the floor in protest of my arrival. When I'm lying on the couch, Jaxson puts himself between me and the floor, so I can't fall. Good dog.

Bath time has become one of my favorite times of the day.

I squirm around in the warm water, then snuggle into my frog towel and cry until I'm dry.

"Oh pew. Did I do that?"

Before I go, I owe you all a kidney update. We are basically in a holding pattern until next week. I will have more blood tests, then the Pediatric Nephrologist will use the numbers to determine if my kidney function is improving (that's the hope!), or if some intervention is needed. I am eating, sleeping, and PEEING like a champ, so it seems like my body is on the mend. Please keep praying for me!

Woo-ee. All this blogging has made me very sleepy.

On our way to the hospital for Cy's second day in the NICU, we read Isaiah 40 for morning devotions. Isaiah 40 is mostly remembered for the last four verses, but God had an even more fitting verse for us that day...


Isaiah 40:11

He tends his flock like a shepherd:
He gathers the lambs in his arms
and carries them close to his heart;
he gently leads those that have young.

I'M HOME!!!

Hey everybody! It's me- Cy! I'm home from the hospital, and ready to blog...



First, I have to thank you all for praying for me. My kidneys are proving to be quite a pain, but I was well taken care of at the hospital. I'm on the mend. It might take a few weeks, or months, for my kidneys to start functioning properly, so please keep the prayers comin'. I know my parents are really thankful for all your support- it gave them strength to take care of me. I think they're pretty relieved to have me home.

My parents really want to show me off, so please excuse the plethora of pictures. I've grown a bit since I was born- one week ago tonight.




Grandpa Alexander (Papa) held me and talked to me about his favorite baseball team (see t-shirt). I was interested for a while, but then I got kinda bored.
This little monitor was attached to my foot when I was in the hospital: "ET, phone home!"

Our family dog, Jaxson, isn't quite sure what to make of me. I think I've invaded his territory. He actually peed on the carpet in my room the night I came home. He really likes to lick me- I don't mind, he's very gentle. I think eventually we'll be really good friends.

My grandmas took turns holding me in the hospital. They are both such beautiful women. I'm a lucky little man to be loved by them.



Well, that's enough pictures and words for now. I'm hungry (for a change), and ready to spend some time at home with my family.

Cy Update- Monday morning

Hello all

We have wonderful pictures to share with you, however the blogspot system does not seem to be working properly... We'll try again soon.

Cy is still in the hospital, being monitored, and today (Monday) he will have couple of procedures to help determine what it is that is wrong with his kidneys. There are a few possible diagnosis, all of which have interventions to cure them. So today should be the day we learn how we are going to procede.

We must thank all of you for your prayers regarding Cy's numbers. Yesterday morning, when we went into the hospital at 8:00am, the level of Potassium in Cy's blood was 6.7. We felt really deflated, as this demonstrated that his kidneys were potentially getting worse instead of better. The docs decided to run the Potassium test again. In the meantime, people were interceding to God on Cy's behalf, at churches all over the nation (WLC of Hope, Grace Lutheran, First Pres Yakima, St. Andrews in MN, Trinity Pres in Seattle). At 10:30am, we received the latest lab read- his Potassium had dropped to 5.6- a direct answer to your prayers. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

Please continue to pray for our little one. We REALLY HOPE he'll be coming home today or tomorrow.

We're off to battle L.A. traffic on our way to the hospital to love (and feed!) our little man.
