What's In a Name?
Hello everyone. Long time no blog. Time for an update...Lots of you have been asking how I got my name. I asked my parents that question (since I didn't have much to do with it), and here was their reply.
The morning before the big ultrasound (when my parents were to find out if I was a boy baby or a girl baby), they didn't have a single boy name picked out. They had a long list of great girl names, because my mom was convinced that she was having a girl. Boy names had been more difficult to come up with. But, that morning, my mom woke up and said to my dad, in a dreamy haze- "What about Cy?"
Dad said, "Cy. I like that. There's a famous baseball player named Cy" (Cy Young). For the next 6 months, mom and dad debated over whether I needed a LONGER name- 2 letters is awfully short.
They tried on a few ideas...
"Cyrus" is a Persian king in the Old Testament. He was not a believer in the Jewish God, but God used him (in spite of himself) to gather the Jewish people after years of exile. Great story. My parents weren't wild about the name. Seemed a bit too serious.
"Josiah" was another name considered. But my mom's cousins already named their son Josiah...
Inspiration struck when my mom was in an Old Testasment class at Fuller Seminary. Her professor was British, and she pronounced Isaiah, "I-si-ah." Perfect.
Isaiah means "God saves." No purer truth than that.
I'll probably go by "Cy" most of the time. But you can also call me Isaiah.
My middle name- Benjamin- is a name my parents both liked. One of my dad's childhood best friends is named Ben. He's a great guy. I am honored to be named after him.
So, that's the story! Any questions? Blog me! (Anyone can post a comment on my blog by opening the "comments" section, and choosing "anonymous"- then you don't have to become a "member").
Now, enjoy some pictures from my third week of life...

This is how my mom checks to see if I am REALLY hungry. If I latch onto the nose, I'm ready to eat.

My personality is starting to shine through, between naps and feeding sessions.
I am a pleasant, sweet baby- and I'm learning how to SMILE!

Jaxson likes to keep an eye on me. He's my favorite babysitter.
On the health front- I have blood tests on Monday that will help determine how my kidneys are functioning. I'll let ya'll know next week...
Oh my, I'm sleepy again (shocking). I'll try to blog again soon.

Thanks again for all your thoughts and prayers for me.
Love,
Cy
